Welcome from our Prinicpal

Dr. Keonn Nettles is the proud principal of Wacoochee Elementary School, where he is committed to ensuring that every student receives a high-quality education in a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Dr. Nettles holds a doctorate in education and brings a strong background in instructional leadership, school improvement, and data-driven decision-making. He works closely with teachers, instructional coaches, and district leaders to strengthen instruction, enhance Professional Learning Communities, and use assessment data and classroom-based measures to guide teaching and learning.

A passionate advocate for literacy and mathematics achievement, Dr. Nettles focuses on early targeted supports and continuous improvement to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to succeed. His leadership emphasizes collaboration, consistency, and relationships as the foundation of a positive school culture.

Beyond academics, Dr. Nettles is dedicated to developing the whole child and building strong partnerships with families and the community. He believes that when schools and families work together, students thrive.

Wacoochee Elementary School is a warm, welcoming environment where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and succeed each day. We take pride in providing a safe, nurturing atmosphere that supports high expectations for both academic achievement and personal growth. Our hallways and classrooms showcase student learning and creativity, reflecting the pride our students take in their work. Students and staff greet one another with kindness and respect, fostering a strong sense of belonging and community. Wacoochee Elementary serves a diverse population, and we celebrate our differences while working together as one school family. Community

Wacoochee Elementary School proudly serves the Salem community and surrounding areas as part of the Lee County School System. Opened in 2011, our school provides a safe, welcoming environment for students in Pre-K through 5th grade to learn, grow, and succeed. Rooted in the strong, close-knit Salem community, Wacoochee Elementary values partnerships with families and encourages every student to take pride in their learning. Together, we work to inspire students to reach their fullest potential each day.
